Research areas
Research shows that people's social relationships with others is a significant predictor of longevity, over and above behaviours, such as smoking, alcohol consumption, and a lack of physical exercise.
SIGN's research aims to investigate the role of social identity in health and well-being, to understand the various ways in which an individual's social connection and social identity affects their health and happiness. It is hoped that this extensive research will improve the understanding of the various factors influencing health and well-being, so that a more holistic approach that considers social connection is considered.
Below is a list of current projects in this domain being conducted by the SIGN team and their collaborators.
