Social identity change

Periods of social identity change can be a time of upheaval for many. Social identity theories, such as the Social Identity Model of Identity Change (SIMIC) suggests that life transitions, well‐being and adjustment during periods of identity change are enhanced when people are able to maintain pre-existing social group memberships that are important to them, or acquire new ones.

SIGN's social identity change research looks at various stages of life transition, and how these periods can be supported through the maintenance of existing social connections, or the development of new ones.

See the below project list for SIGN's social identity change research.
