What does it mean to follow? A systematic review of followership theories and definitions

This study involved a systematic review of explicit (formal) and implicit (informal) definitions of followership. The project synthesised findings to provide a clear construct and valid definition of followership as: the process whereby an individual willingly exerts effort to support the achievement of a goal they perceive another person or group to hold.
