This project analysed the attack rhetoric used by Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump during the 2016 U.S. presidential debates to examine how they sought to destabilise each other’s leadership. The analysis shows just as how social identity claims are critical to leadership success, they are also central to efforts to destabilise the leadership of others.
