This program of research focuses on the retirement transition from competitive and elite sport. It examines the contribution of social identity (e.g., sporting, athletic, team, etc) in adjustment to retirement from sport, and has used this evidence base to support a new online program - Groups 4 Health: Sport - targeting identity and social changes in the transition. This work is being conducted in collaboration with sport psychologists in Australia (e.g., AFL), the UK and Europe.
