The impact of counter-protests on public attitudes

Although a counter-protest against social change aims to disrupt and deligitimise a protest, it may ironically promote greater public support for social change. This study examined whether and how the presence of counter-protests can shape public sympathy towards protests pushing for social change, and the potential underlying mechanisms of this effect.
