Collective continuity and support for strong leaders

Across four survey studies conducted in different social and political contexts, this study found that collective continuity was linked to a greater wish for a strong leader. This suggests that strong leaders may be perceived as agents of continuity that provide groups with a reassurance that their national identity will be preserved across time.
