PhD Candidate, Joanne Rathbone, Interviewed for 4ZZZ Radio

7 April 2021

SIGN’s PhD Candidate, Joanne Rathbone, recently spoke with 4ZZZ Radio to discuss her research – published in the Journal of Health Psychology – which looked at how public health messages affect people’s behaviours.

Conducted at The University of Queensland in collaboration with The Australian National University, Joanne explained how public health campaigns promoting body positivity and challenging weight stigma can improve health and well-being for people of all shapes and sizes.

Based on her findings, Joanne shared how important it is for public health campaigns to avoid content that stigmatises weight, and messages that focus on weight-loss.
