29 March 2021

The SIGN group is excited to announce that one of their Bachelor of Psychological Science honours students, Kirra Southwell, has received the University of Queensland’s Donald Tugby Prize in the Psychology of Peace 2020 award.

The prestigious award, which was established in 2011, recognises the premier honours thesis that contributes to the Psychology of Peace.

Supervised by SIGN’s Dr Sarah Bentley, Kirra’s award-winning honours thesis looked at the role of both problematic and negative group memberships, and the consequences of these relationships on individual well-being.

Congratulations to Kirra and her supervisor, Sarah! This is an incredible achievement for work that contributes insightful knowledge to the field of social psychology.
